Northwest Missouri State senior safety Nate DeJong and junior cornerback Brandon Dixon added another set of All-American honors Thursday, with both being named to The Associated Press All-America Teams
DeJong was a second team selection and Dixon earned third team honors in his first season at Northwest.
The pair helped the Bearcats lead the nation with 28 interceptions on the season and post the second toughest defense in the nation, allowing only 13.8 points per game.
DeJong recorded a team-high seven interceptions on the season and put together a stretch of six consecutive games where he had one in each.
The Rock Rapids, Iowa native was earlier named to the Daktronics All-America Team and the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team.
Dixon recorded five interceptions on the season and added 10 passes defended. The junior quickly made his impact felt at Northwest with two interceptions, including a pick-six, in the season opening win against East Central.
Dixon was a third team selection on the Daktronics All-American Team.
Northwest finished the season 10-3 and with their ninth straight NCAA playoff appearance, the longest streak in the nation. The Bearcats have also posted nine consecutive 10-win seasons.
