  • Two Kansas City-area residents suffered moderate injuries Thursday in a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of routes V and H five miles south of Maryville.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, driver William M. House, 70, Grandview, and his passenger, Natalie Y. Griswell House, 51, Raytown, were northbound on Route H about 12:30 p.m. in a 2011 Hyundai Sonata when House allegedly failed to stop for a stop sign.
The patrol report stated that House lost control of the wheel as the sedan skidded across Route V, struck an embankment and came to rest in a ditch on the west side of the pavement.
Airbags in the car deployed. Both occupants were wearing seat belts.
Driver and passenger were taken by Nodaway County ambulance to St. Francis Hospital & Health Services in Maryville.
According to the patrol, the car was totaled and towed from the scene by Kaiser Collision Repair.
Trooper Rob Dudeck was assisted in working the accident by the Nodaway County Sheriff's Department and firefighters from Maryville Public Safety.
