  • Sean Ottman, a student in Jenni Halley's sixth-grade class at St. Gregory's School, is a local winner of the Peace Poster Contest sponsored annually by the Maryville Pride Lions Club and Lions International.
Sean is the son of Ray and Amy Ottman of Maryville. The theme of this year's competition is "Imagine Peace."
Sean's poster shows a "tree of world peace" as a way of illustrating how individual nations can set down political and social roots encouraging international accord and non-violence.
The poster will now be considered by judges at the Lions' district level.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Lions' Peace Poster Contest for middle school students. The top international winner will receive a cash prize along with an expenses-paid family trip to Lions Club Day at the United Nations in New York City.
