In a rematch of last year's district semifinals, Maryville rode another strong first half performance to a 54-38 road win over East Buchanan Monday night in Gower.
The Hounds finished the first quarter up 18-11 and extended to a 34-20 halftime lead. East Buchanan cut into the lead slightly in the third, but the Hounds put the game away in the fourth quarter.
Maryville improved to 5-1 and has now won four straight since its only loss of the season to Winnetonka in the Savannah Invitational. East Buchanan dropped to 3-3.
All 24 of Maryville's field goals in the game were from inside the three-point stripe, while East Buchanan hit just one three.
The Hounds were led in scoring by senior forward Tyler Kenkel with 16 points. All of his production came in the first three quarters.
Sophomore forward Trent Nally was also in double-figures with 11 points. Treyton Burch scored eight points and six in the second quarter. Jonathan Baker tossed in seven points.
Brent Schultz led the Bulldogs with 13 points.
Maryville's girls and boys basketball teams played Tuesday night against South Harrison. Results were not available by press time.
