Sisters honor employees

The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde, Mo., hosted their annual employee appreciation dinner in November, honoring staff members for their dedicated service.

The luncheon included a wonderful meal, a reflection of gratitude from Clyde Prioress Sister Pat Nyquist, OSB and a special musical tribute from the Sisters.

Employees were presented with a unique gift of appreciation, which reflected the monastery's history. Sister Sean Douglas, OSB, personally polished and prepared dozens of tin ceiling tiles salvaged from the recent monastery renovations. Each tile was then framed with wood recycled from last year's horrific hail storm, which damaged or destroyed dozens of trees throughout the property.

"It was a beautiful gift, a reminder of our history and a way to breathe new life into things that were lost or replaced," Sister Pat said. "Our employees are so very dear to us. We are blessed by their talent and their friendship."

The monastery's lay staff includes more than 50 professionals in a variety of areas, including maintenance, health care, finance, housekeeping and groundskeeping.
