Eagle boys hold off LeBlond

Jefferson dug its way out of an eight-point first quarter hole and made enough key free throws late to collect a 47-43 win over Bishop LeBlond Tuesday in Conception Junction.

The Eagles finished 19-27 at the foul line, making 15 more free throws and attempting 20 more than LeBlond.

Jefferson improved to 3-2 and avoided back-to-back losses.

Senior point guard Zach Jermain carried the load for Jefferson offensively, finishing with a game-high 26 points. He connected on four of the team's six, three-pointers.

Blake Meyer added nine points.

Held to just four first quarter points, the Eagles scored at least 12 in each of the three and combined for 31 in the next two.

They outscored LeBlond 17-7 in the third quarter to go in front and held off the Eagles in the fourth.

LeBlond's Jacob Madden scored a team-high 14 points. He was the only Golden Eagle to each double-figures.

Nodaway-Holt 69 Stewartsville 51

Nodaway-Holt built a double-digit lead in the first quarter and prospered at the offensive end throughout a 69-51 win over Stewartsville Tuesday night in Graham.

The Trojans (3-1) scored at least 17 points in each of the first three quarters and a minimum of 14 in all four.

Three Trojans scored in double-figures and five had at least eight points.

The team leader in scoring was Nick Patterson with 16 points. He was followed by Jackson Beattie with 14 points and Stephen Schniedemeyer with 13 points. Brian Lance just missed double-figures with nine points.

Dominick Fleeks and Justin Burris each put up 13 points to lead Stewartsville.

Northeast Nodaway 43 Tarkio 41

The Bluejays grabbed hold of a six-point halftime lead and made it stand for a 43-41 win Tuesday night in Ravenwood.

NEN overcame a shaky 6-14 night at the foul line, but Tarkio was even less accurate at 7-18.

The Bluejays built their entire lead in the second quarter, outscoring Tarkio 15-7. They trailed by two at the end of one quarter.

Aaron Patton led the Jays with 14 points. Steve Schulte added seven and hit a three.

J.D. Walter paced Tarkio with 11 points. Gavin Joesting posted 10 points.

Worth County 67 North Nodaway 54

The Mustangs hung with Worth County in all four quarters, but constantly saw the deficit grow in a 67-54 loss Tuesday night Grant City.

Worth County won all four quarters by four points or less.

The two teams lit it up in the fourth quarter, with Worth County outscoring North Nodaway 27-25.

Worth County's Bryce Ross finished as the game's high scorer with 26 points. Brevyn Ross reached double-figures as well with 11 points.

North Nodaway had four players score in double-figures.

The team leader was Trent Coleman with 18 points. The next three were Koby Reynolds (12 points, Nick Gladman (11 points) and Austin Reynolds (10 points).

Gladman, Coleman and Austin Reynolds combined to hit six three's.

North Andrew 59 West Nodaway 26

PVC Tournament champion North Andrew got off to a bit of a sluggish start, but revved up its offense in the next two quarters to launch past West Nodaway for a 59-26 win Tuesday night in Rosendale.

The Cardinals put up 41 points in the middle two quarters, outscoring West Nodaway by 23 during that span. The Rockets scored all 10 second half points in the third quarter.

North Andrew center Jeremiah Libich racked up a game-high 24 points. Bryar Moppin pitched in 13 points and nailed all three of the team's 3-pointers.

Trevor Meyer and Blake Farnan scored eights apiece to lead West Nodaway.

The loss dropped West Nodaway to 2-2.
