Ahead by two after the first quarter, Nodaway-Holt got outscored in each of last three and lost to Mound City 61-50 in the championship game of the Mound City Tournament Friday night.
Tied at the half, the Panthers finished the third quarter up by three points and spread their lead to double-digits in the fourth.
The difference in the game was at the foul line where Mound City made 28-43 attempts and Nodaway-Holt was 12-21.
The Panthers' Alex Phillips led all scorers with 29 points, besting Nodaway-Holt's Megan Rosenbohm by one point.
Rosenbohm finished with 28, giving her three games with 25-plus points to start the year. Darcie Gallagher added six points and Krysta Beattie scored six before fouling out.
North Nodaway 58 South Holt 54 (5th Place Game)
The Lady Mustangs battled back from an 11-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter to beat South Holt 58-54 in the fifth place game of the Mound City Tournament Friday night.
North Nodaway outscored South Holt 27-12 in the final period, nearly matching its scoring output of 31 points from the first three quarters combined.
Junior guard Cambry Schluter spearheaded the comeback, connecting on five, 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 21 points. Leslie Birkenholz scored a season-high 15 points.
South Holt's Emily Cox led all scorers in the game with 34 points and nailed three, 3-pointers. She was the only Knight in double-figures.
In its previous tournament game, the Lady Mustangs beat West Nodaway 51-32 Thursday.
North Nodaway (4-1) had two players in double-figures and five that scored at least six points. Schluter led the way with 16 points, scoring half that total in the fourth quarter.
Erin Greeley netted 13 points, all in the first half and was 7-8 at the foul line.
Sam Frueh barely missed double-figures with nine points. Birkenholz popped in seven points and Alysa Lyle had six.
West Nodaway (0-2) was held to nine points or fewer in each of the first three quarters.
Marissa Perkins surpassed double-figures with 13 points.
Nodaway-Holt broke open a three-point game in the second half to beat Tarkio 58-42 in the third place game of the Mound City Tournament Friday.
Held to 21 first half points, the Trojans (2-1) cranked up their offense in the third quarter and scored 19 points. They followed that with an 18 point fourth quarter. Tarkio couldn't keep up, scoring 24 second half points.
Nodaway-Holt senior Derek Lemon led all scorers with 17 points. Nick Patterson was right behind with 16 points, hitting three, 3-pointers.
Devin Albertson gave the Trojans three in double-figures with 10 points.
Tarkio's leading scorers were Derek Rohlfson and J.D. Walter with 12 points.

The Rockets received double-figure scoring contributions from four different players led by Trevor Meyer's season-high 31 points Saturday to win 74-54 over North Nodaway in the fifth place game of the Mound City Tournament.
Meyer drilled five of the team's seven 3-pointers in the game, with the other two coming courtesy of Jaden Gillenwater who scored 10 points.
Blake Farnan set a new season-high with 18 points, and post player Jonathon Madere finished with 12 points.
The Rockets (2-1) increased their scoring total and their lead in every quarter, culminating with a 22 point fourth quarter.
North Nodaway (1-3) was led by Austin Reynolds with 18 points. Younger brother Koby Reynolds scored 10 points. Zach Gladman hit three, 3-pointers to finish with nine points.
North Nodaway won its only game of the tournament over South Holt 43-36 Thursday. The quartet of Austin Reynolds, Coleman, Koby Reynolds and Keegan King combined for all but one of the team's points.
Austin had a team-high 13 points. Coleman finished with 11.
The Rockets defeated CFX in their earlier game 54-36.
Meyer scored a game-high 15 points. Gillenwater finished with 12 points. Zach Harris, Blake Farnan and Madere chipped in between six and eight points.
