Wilford  Eugene "Ted" Derks

Wilford  Eugene "Ted" Derks, 69, Maryville, Missouri, died on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Ted was born August 25, 1943 in Maryville, the son of the late Lawrence and Gertrude (Walter) Derks.

June 20, 1964 he was united in marriage to Marylin (Surplus) at St. Columba Catholic Church in Conception Junction, Missouri.

Ted was a 1961 graduate of Jefferson High School.  He had also worked as a self-employed contractor for many years in the Maryville area and was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Martin, John, and Cletus; a sister Bea (Bailey) Brillheart and his son, Darren.

His survivors include: wife Marylin, of the home; daughter Darla Kay Black; brothers, Alfred, Father Joel, Irven, and Chris; sisters; Dolly Ciemiega, Rita Wallace, Mary Ann Meyer, Diane Wilmes and Tina Wendel; grandchildren, Jonathan, Shelbie and Jadyn Black, and Madison Derks.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 20 at St. Gregory's from 6-8 PM, followed by a prayer service at 8 PM, where Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM, Wednesday, November 21.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville.

Memorial may be given to the American Heart Association.
