Sarah Ann Billingsley, 73, Maryville, Missouri, died Thursday, November 8, 2012, at Garden Valley Manor, Kansas City, Missouri.
Sarah was born September 9, 1939, in Maryville, Missouri to Floyd H. and Helen Marie Wilcox Billingsley. At the age of nine months she and her parents moved to a farm east of Clearmont, Missouri. She attended Clearmont Public School, graduated in 1961 from Northwest Missouri State University with a B.S. in Education and received her Masters Degree in Education in 1972.
Sarah was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity (Sorority), Delta Kappa Gamma-Omicron Chapter and a member of the business education society.
Sarah was a member of the Ashland United Methodist Church, an associate member at First United Methodist Church, Maryville, Delta Kappa Gamma-Omicron Chapter, Phi Mu Fraternity (Sorority), Lifetime Member of Missouri State Teachers Association and Missouri Retired Teachers Association.
While she taught (33 years) at Benton High School, she held several offices
in the St. Joseph Classroom Teacher's Association including president. She
was a delegate to the teacher's convention for several years.
Sarah served as pep club sponsor and cheerleader sponor while teaching at Benton High School. She also served as junior class and prom chairman for many years.
In 1994 Sarah moved to Maryville, Missouri to care for her mother.
Sarah is survived by several cousins and her best friend Norman Heflin.
Memorial Services will be Friday, November 16, 2012, at 3 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Sarah will be buried at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Clearmont, Missouri at a later date.
