Elda Garland Slagle, 99, Saint Joseph, Missouri, died Thursday, November 8, 2012, at Carriage Square Health Care Center, Saint Joseph, Missouri.
Garland was born Friday, March 21, 1913, in Ravenwood, Missouri to Frank and Elsie Jackson Antrim. She spent her lifetime in the Ravenwood, Parnell, Blue Springs, and St. Joseph communities.
She first married Leo Frampton and after his death in 1957, she married William Raymond Slagle December 29, 1966, in Blue Springs, Missouri.
A graduate of Ravenwood High School and Northwest Missouri State University in 1959, she was a Elementary Teacher and educator.
Mrs Slagle taught in Douglas and Logan rural schools, Northeast Nodaway , and Blue Springs Missouri
Garland was a member of the Blue Springs United Methodist Church and Susannah Circle, Blue Springs Retired Educators, Missouri State Teachers Association, Missouri Retired Teachers Association, AARP, American Legion Auxiliary, Post #528, Parnell, Missouri, and Rosanna Chapter #262 of the Order of Eastern Star.
Preceding in death were her parents, first husband Leo Frampton (1957)
and husband William Raymond Slagle (2004), and brother Harley Frank Antrim.
Survivors include her daughter Sherry (David) Milligan, Saint Joseph, MO,
grandchildren Kimberly (Kevin) Pistole, Columbia, Missouri and Kyle (Leigh) Milligan, St. Joseph, Missouri, four great grandchildren: Andrew and Carson Pistole and Quinn and Porter Milligan; three step children and their families.
Visitation will be 2- 4:00 PM, Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, November 12, 2012, at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, Missouri with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ravenwood, Missouri.
Memorials can be made in Garland's name to American Heart Association or American Cancer Association.
