• Lady Hound volleyball players rack up post-season honors

  • Five Maryville High School volleyball players were recognized on the all-conference, all-district or all-region teams this year.
    Senior libero Jessa Stiens and senior setter Alyssa Stiens attained first team All-MEC, first team all-district and first team all-region honors.
    Jessa, a three-year starter, was voted on the first team for the third consecutive year. This was Alyssa's second appearance on the All-MEC team after earning honorable mention as a junior.
    A first-year starter, junior outside hitter Aubrey Kimble garnered honorable mention on the All-MEC team and was a second team all-district selection.
    Senior outside Sara Knowles and junior middle Gabby Church were also honorable mention all-conference honorees.
    All three are first-time selections.
    Jessa Stiens finished with a team-high 406 digs (5.9 per set) and served up 32 aces, the fourth-highest total on the team. Alyssa Stiens was responsible for 350 of the team's 379 assists. She also had 48 aces, the second-most on the team, and 169 digs.
    Kimble led the Hounds with 51 aces and 139 kills. She also contributed on defense with 158 digs.
    Knowles was second on the team with 130 kills and her 43 aces ranked third. Defensively, she totaled 124 digs.
    Church produced a team-leading 43.5 blocks and was fourth on the team in kills with 107.
    The Hounds finished 23-7-2 and lost in the district finals to Savannah.
