Dr. Anita Aldrich, 98, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012 in Bloomington, Ind., where she resided since 1964.
Anita was born in Elmo, Mo., September 20, 1914, to Earl and Ethel (Bailey) Aldrich.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents and uncle, B.H. Bailey.
Anita graduated from Elmo High School in 1932, obtained a B.S. degree from Northwest Missouri State University, a Masters degree from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, and an education degree from Penn State University.
At the time of her retirement, she was chairperson of the department of physical education at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
Anita also served as a member of President Kennedy's Fitness Conference in 1961.
After retirement, she remained active in educational programs at Indiana University.
Anita is survived by cousins Byron Bailey and wife Maggie, Superior, Mont., Barbara Bailey Butler and husband David, Burlington Junction, Mo., Klye Jones and wife Kathie, Clearmont, Mo., Kim Jones, Elmo, Mo., and Kristine and husband Richard, Clearmont, Mo.
Graveside service will be held at the LaMar cemetery, Monday, November 5, 2012 at 11 a.m.
