GEEKOLOGY 101: 9 Years Ago, My Itchy Beard and iO6 for Apple Mobile Systems

So another week goes by and I am back on my feet again. Thanks for bearing with me through yet another stomach flu spell. It has been awful on me this year.

My co-worker was quick to point out, “Hey it might be your beard, you should shave it off”! To which I turned a deaf ear. We hockey fans & players have to stick together.

But yes, it sure is itchy.

For those that don’t know it, I am actually married. Hard to believe with that a geek could snag a girl, but sometimes we just get lucky.

Plus I like to bust through the stereotypes.

Well today is our ninth wedding anniversary. See, even guys can remember important dates sometime.

Though don’t ask me my dad’s birthday. For some reason that date keeps slipping into the black hole of my memory.

Funny thing is, we were married here in Maryville at Laura Street Baptist Church by Paul McKim.

Now some of you out there may not see this as funny at all. But, for us, we didn’t live in Maryville.

And, unless I am mistaken, we hadn’t planned on ever living here.

Now here we are and we are now raising two beautiful boys in this our new hometown. How we got here is a funny story, ask me about it some time.

So Happy Anniversary Dear! It has been a great 9 years and look forward to many more.

Now onto the geekier side of my column and to the introduction of the new iO6 mobile operating system for the iPhone, iPad and iPod systems.

For those that don’t know, with the new iPhone 5 release they also put out the new mobile operating system.

Now, I don’t really get that excited about stuff like this because, honestly, I can’t usually tell the difference between one and the other.

Except with this update Google Maps is replaced by Apple Maps, my YouTube channel app has disappeared and Facebook is now incorporated into the system.

For me, this isn’t a big deal. Though I have heard this horrible outcry about the Map feature. I don’t get it, but I don’t use the map feature at all.

The one feature I am looking forward to getting to know is the Passbook. You can use this built-in app to digitally store tickets, coupons, and gift cards, etc.

That would be awesome to keep me from losing stuff like that or having this enormous wallet to lug them around in.

YES!

 Overall though, I really didn’t notice much of a difference from iO5 but that is just me.

As I get to know the new mobile operating system, I will post updates.
