Veasey, Schreck get to state

In their final chance to make it to state together, Maryville seniors Mara Veasey and Emily Schreck delivered with a 6-1, 6-4 win over St. Pius X opponents Elena Ibarra and Emily Nissen Monday in sectionals at Chillicothe.

Ousted in sectionals last year, Veasey and Schreck are one of 16 doubles pairings headed to the Class 1 Doubles Tournament Oct. 19-20 in Springfield.

Veasey and Schreck, the second seeded team out of District 16, took out the No. 1 seeded team from District 15 in straight sets.

They still have just two losses on the season.
