• DAR group attends district meeting

  • Five members of the Nodaway chapter of the Missouri Daughters of the American Revolution recently attended the organization's Northwest District meeting in Marceline.
    The theme of the meeting was "Missouri Daughters STAR in historic preservation, education, and patriotism."
    The five members from Nodaway County were Irene Taylor, Betty Nelson, Penny Auffert, Laura Bissen and Catrina Pelton.
    Hosting the event were regents Gloria Gooch, Continental Congress chapter; Barbara Spencer, Dorcas Richardson chapter; Joyce Long, General John Sullivan Chapter; and Patricia Johnson, Hannah Hull chapter.
    Twelve of the 13 chapters in the district were represented at the meeting.
    All twelve chapters received awards, as did several individuals. A silent auction was held to raise funds for establishing a veteran's scholarship for Missouri students.
