  • A dedication and ribbon cutting for the newly completed Phyllis and Richard Leet Center for Children and Families on Saturday.
The center, part of the Horace Mann Laboratory School at Northwest, will house pre-schoolers, pre-kindergarteners and kindergarteners.
The area on the first floor where the youngsters now attend class used to be the library, which was relocated to the basement underneath the southwest part of Brown Education Hall.
Along with the new library, the basement also has a newly renovated lunchroom for all students at the school.
The Leet family donated $100,000 for the remodeling, which was named in their honor.
The majority of the work was done over the summer, with the final pieces being the library and the new lunchroom. Those projects were completed in early September.
