  • Teacher Linda Heeler's fifth- and sixth-graders from Horace Mann Laboratory School headed for the Mozingo Outdoor Education Recreation Area Friday, where they spent the morning literally learning the ropes on the high-flying "challenge course."
Heeler, who has been leading annual MOERA outings for about 15 years, said the course's climbing towers provide a genuine challenge for the youngsters as they learn hands-on lessons emphasizing the importance of self-confidence and teamwork.
Owned and operated by Northwest Missouri State University, the MOERA facility is also used by businesses schools, youth groups, athletics teams and other groups seeking to strengthen group relationships and team-building skills.
