  • Martha Katherine "Mardy" Hager, daughter of Frank and Katheryn (Streifel) Hager, was born March 28th, 1924, in Harvey, ND. She was raised and educated in Harvey.
    Martha went back to the loving arms of her husband when she passed away September 18th, 2012 at Trinity Nursing Home.
    She married Ed Weigel October 20th, 1941.
    Martha was a devoted wife and mother and loved her family very much.
    Martha most enjoyed her time spent at Strawberry Lake and their winter home in AZ.
    Martha was a member of Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church and altar society in Harvey and was always willing to serve for weddings, funerals, or cleaning the church. She was also a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot.
    She loved baking and cooking and sharing both of these talents with her family and friends.
    Those of her family that will miss her so much are Sharon (Jim) Kapfer of Minot, Dianne (Curt) Pellett of Fessenden, ND, Dave (Heidi) Weigel of Maryville, MO, Gary Weigel of Walker, MN, Barry (Darla) Weigel of Minot, and Doran (Cyndee) Weigel of Minot. Her 11 grandchildren, Steve Kapfer, Kathey Llewellyn, Paula Mikkelson, Penny Zinke, April Graham, Halie Weigel, Miranda Weigel, Chad Weigel, Shila Wahlstrom, Angela Darveaux and Melissa Hest and 20 Great Grandchildren. All of who she loved so much.
    Martha is also survived by her brother Eddy Hager of Apple Valley, CA and sister Helen Schmidt of Harvey, ND.
    She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her parents, brothers Ben and Andy, her sisters Barbara Goldade, Marion Hopkins, Regina Kolschefsky, and Catherine Sanchez.
    Vigil Prayer Service: Friday, September 21, 2012, at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND
    Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, September 22, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
    Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND
    Lunch: Noon on Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Clubrooms, 2601 North Broadway, Minot,
    Visitation: Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND
    Memorials are preferred to "Slingshot Ministries" to benefit Haitian orphans.
    Memorial can be sent to "Slingshot Ministries" in care of Gary Weigel at PO Box 411, Walker MN 56484. Martha's son Gary Weigel travels to Haiti several times a year and works with orphans at a Haitian orphanage. The family supports the efforts of Gary and the Slingshot Mission and they wish that donations go to this great charity.
