For the last 15 years, St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic church has held a fundraising event called the Family Fun Fest.
The tradition continued last weekend, and continues to grow.
Last year's event was forced indoors due to weather, but this year the skies stayed clear, and everyone was able to enjoy a nice day outside.
More than 60 volunteers, including church members and Northwest Missouri State University student-athletes, helped out by running games, selling tickets and cooking food.
Dart throwing, ball tosses, face and hair painting were just a few of the activities enjoyed by children and adults.
A silent auction was held with a large variety of donated items, as was a cake walk, where participants basically played musical chairs to see which homemade treat they would win.
Traditionally the biggest fundraiser of the year for the church-operated school, organizers said they were happy about the turnout.
"This was a great way for parents and kids to get out and have some fun," Fun Fest chairperson Kelly Quinlin said. "Plus it is a good kick-off for the school year."
Other volunteers included Quinlin's husband, Joe, Scott and Stacy Leibhart, Dino and Emily Groumoutis and Kent and Victoria Lager.
"There are so many people that helped, and we really appreciate them all," Quinlin said. "And the athletes that came out. The help really makes this all work."
