A memorial fund has been set up in support of the family of Tomarken Smith, a Northwest Missouri State University student killed early Friday in a fight outside a Market Street tavern.
Sigma Phi Epsilon, the fraternity of which Smith was a member, is requesting that donation be made to the Tomarken Smith Memorial Fund in care of Citizens Bank and Trust, 105 N. Main St., Maryville, MO, 64468.
In addition, Smith's family has asked that cards and notes be collected and sent to them in a single mailing. Anyone who wishes to do so should provide such correspondence to Northwest’s Office of Campus Activities, located on the second floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union. The office will collect these items between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Smith, 21, of St. Louis, was a senior pre-professional studies major with a minor in coaching. He was a former resident assistant on the Northwest campus and at the time of his death worked as a student employee at the university fitness center.
