  • The Nodaway County Historical Society recently hosted a Dutch oven cooking exhibition by Tanner Adkins, who prepared clam chowder, Kentucky corn pudding, and apple crisp.
    A few photos from the event appear above. The next Old Arts presentation at the museum, located at 110 N. Walnut in Maryville, is set for 1 p.m.
    Saturday, Sept. 22, when Carrol Fry will demonstrate how to make elderberry wine. If you haven't gone to one of these events, they're always fun — a real-life look at how folks used to do things back in the "good old days" before electricity and hot water.
