As part of the celebration of their recently renovated monastery, the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration at Clyde in eastern Nodaway County are hosting a raffle that will include prizes related to the convent's history and mission.
Among the items to be given away is a handcrafted quilt made by the nuns and friends of the monastery. The drawing will be take place Sunday, Sept. 2. Winners need to be present to win.
There is no cost to enter, but a $10 tax-deductible donation is suggested. Proceeds will help support the Benedictine Sisters' work and ministries, which include prayer, hospitality, proclamation of the Gospel through the printed word, the adoration of Christ in the Eucharist and altar bread production.
"We feel this is a special way for people to become part of the rich fabric of our tradition," said Sister Dawn Annette Mills, OSB.
Other prizes include a picture frame created with antique tiles once part of the motherhouse ceiling, a gift basket of boutique soaps from Monastery Creations and a hand-embroidered pillow.
"We wanted to offer gifts that are made with our own hands to celebrate this exciting time in our congregation's history," Mills said.
