  • The Maryville Daily Forum has announced the promotion of Jesse Murphy to the position of managing editor.

Murphy, a 2010 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, has been on the Forum staff as a reporter since December 2011.

A native of Rock Port, Murphy moved to Maryville in 2002 where he met and married his wife, Erica. The couple has two children, Liam, 5, and Cosette, 2.

"I really enjoy the strong sense of community in Maryville," Murphy said. "It's a great place to live and raise a family."

At Northwest, Murphy earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and Spanish. After graduation he wrote for the Savannah Reporter, community from Maryville, before moving to the Daily Forum.

Both Murphy and his wife have deep roots in northwest Missouri, with relatives living in Nodaway, Atchison, Holt, Andrew and Buchanan counties.

"The Daily Forum looks forward to continuing to provide quality local news to our readers," Murphy said. "Our staff is dedicated and works hard to give the community the best product we can.

"The goal is to keep our close ties with the surrounding area to ensure that the Forum offers community-centric insight and news."
