Mary E Florea passed away Sunday May 13th 2012.
She was born at Hopkins, Missouri on November 23, 1924 to Ora E. and Hazel L (Olmstead) Friend. The family moved to Graham, Missouri when she was 9 years old. They lived in Graham until she graduated from high school in 1942.
Mary was valedictorian of her class, and was awarded a scholarship to Chillicothe Business College.
Mary graduated from Chillicothe Business College. She worked in the general office of the Burlington Railroad in Chicago, Illinois.
Mary met her future husband , who had just returned from service in Maryville.
Faye J Florea and Mary were married on August 27th, 1947
The couple moved to Colorado immediately after their wedding, and settled in Longmont. They lived there all of their married life. Mary and Faye had two children. Richard A and Janice L.
Faye and Mary both worked for the Great Western Sugar Company.
Faye passed away on July 17, 1992.
Mary was a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She had been a continuous member for 64 years, and held several offices. She was a member of the Past President’s Parley.
Mary enjoyed knitting and crocheting sweaters, afghans, dish cloths and hot pads. She gave them to her friends at Christmas and other special times.
Mary is survived by her son Rick (Sharon) , daughter Jan (Shyree), grandson Aaron and great-grandchildren Dillon, Mason, Avonlea and Vanessa. Nephew Larry(Martha), nieces Linda, Kathy(Brian) and Marilyn (Donald)and their families
She was preceded in death by grandson Justin (Angela)
A celebration of life will be held Saturday June 9th, 11:30am at the Longmont Senior Center 910 Longs Peak Ave. Longmont, Colorado. Dress is casual.
