- A lot of adults may have had tough time of it yesterday, what with dead batteries, slick roads and snow-covered driveways. But it was a no-school snow day for the youngsters, which in Maryville often means a couple of hours spent sledding down the hill on the east side of St. Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic Church. Despite chill, gusting winds and falling temperatures, about a dozen children, parents and grandparents bundled up and headed for the popular sledding spot. The first major winter storm of 2013 rolled through Nodaway County early Wednesday, leaving about four inches of the white stuff in its wake.
